In Zimbabwe works stopped on new reservoirs because workers have been scared off by mermaids. The workers are said to be so scared that they are refusing to get back to work.
Minister Nkogo said that “All the officers I have sent have vowed not to go back there” so the problem seems to be very serious indeed. Some senior politicians claim to have seen mermaids in other reservoirs.
New water reservoirs are essential part if Zimbabwe is to provide water for its people and boost farming and agriculture in rural areas. The country has strong belief in mermaids and other mythical beings as well as strong Christian faith. The combination of these two things meant that no worker is whiling to go back to reservoirs. The only solution is to invite workers who have no such belief, but that is not likely to happen either.
